All the Jobs

This is the blog about all my jobs, ever.

When I was working at one of my many jobs there was a part of it that I decided to automate the processes of. I increased my output by 50% because of it, which made everyone happy. Automation is a very powerful tool if done right, but not everything can be automated. There was another job where I worked my brain into a tizzy trying to automate a very simple task but the task was so intricate that there was no way to make it automated.

Sometimes the easy way is not always the right way, automation is an easy way to do things but the setup can be just as long as actually doing the one thing you need to automate. On the flip side automation is a great way to pump out tons of things that are all the same with small changes. Sometimes all you have to do is talk to the right person to see if it is possible.

There are a few types of video production people that I am naming, the techie, the imitator, and the guerilla. The techie drowns you in facts and figures of all the latest gear they just got, and why it is better than everything else. The imitator is all about the latest director they are trying to copy and won’t stop pushing the envelope until they “get the shot” to match the director. The guerilla kind of knows what they are doing with good enough gear to get the job done in an easy and efficient way.

It is good to know which one you are working with to know how the production day is going to go. More importantly, are they doing what they want or are they doing what you need? At the end of the day it is more important to get what you need than to have your 16 year old “director” niece try to copy Tarantino for a commercial for your accounting firm.

When do you need social sizes, do you need them all the time?

It is a simple answer but a complicated explanation. The answer is yes, but it depends on who you are targeting. Your target market drives the size you need as well as how you post. You might just need a square (1x1) social video for a trailer to drive traffic to a site. If you need a vertical (9x16) video you can use it to show a snippet of the video. Finally the standard (16x9) video to show the full experience or video as intended. It also depends on if you shoot with a certain size in mind all that comes in the planning stage.

If you would like to talk about this or how else I can help you book a call today!

As a video freelancer I have often wondered where the videos go when I’m done with them. Obviously to the client…but I guess the real question would be, are the videos successfully doing what I made them to do?

I wasn’t able to help until now….

I’m so happy to announce that ANDY Video and Motion is now a video branding agency. It is the same company you know and love now with more tools in the toolbelt to make the most of what I make for you and how it can be even more successful.

3.5 years ago Jack Black started a gaming YouTube channel called Jablinski Games. The running joke was he would start the video saying “No video gaming this week, unfortunately?”. He did not play video games for 17 weeks (or videos).

So this is me saying:

“No announcement this week, unfortunately”

I’m not waiting 17 weeks to start, just 7 days.

See y'all NEXT WEEK!!!!

This may shock you but I’ve had lots and lots of jobs throughout my working life, and I’ve learned a lot about different industries, people, places, programs, and most of all myself. I’m going to start to share the things I learned so you can hopefully learn some things as well.

I also have a HUGE announcement (about my business, we aren’t having another baby) that I’ll be sharing soon.

So check back again!
